Sample Itinerary

Day 1 - Check–in at St Pancras around 8am for your rail journey by Eurostar to Paris Gare du Nord. Transferring to the Gare de Lyon you will take an afternoon train service to Switzerland, arriving later today. Checking in at the hotel the evening is at your leisure.
 
Day 2 - CERN, the European Organisation for Nuclear Research, is one of the world’s largest and most respected centres for scientific research. Its business is fundamental physics, finding out what the Universe is made of and how it works. A tour here lasts around 3 hours and comprises of an introduction followed by a film, a visit to one of the experiments and/or to an accelerator located at the surface.  Free time in Geneva where theafternoon is at your leisure. Places you might like to visit include the newly re-opened International Red Cross Museum, the world-famous lake-front and the jet d’eau, St Peter’s Cathedral, the ancient Old Town or for car buffs the International Automobile Museum.

Day 3 - A scenic tour via the Route des Grandes Alpes to Thonon les Bains, where you take a one hour cruise to the medieval village of Yvoire. Stirring scenery and the gentle climate have made the shores of Lac Leman a popular resort area since the first spas were built at Evian in 1839. Highlights include the pretty medieval walled fishing port of Yvoire with its massive 14th century castle and it is regularly voted one of the most floral villages in France. Completing the tour of Lake Geneva, we call at Montreux, nestled between Lake Geneva and the steep mountains, it enjoys a Mediterranean microclimate. At a close distance is Chillon Castle which is located on a rocky isle, proposes an enchanting journey through time. This medieval fortress on the mountainside and princely residence on the lakeside is one of the most visited monuments in Switzerland. 

Day 4 - The unmissable Chocolate Train which runs from Montreux to the Gruyère region from where the excellent quality Cailler chocolate and naturally, Gruyere cheese come. You can travel in 1st class 'Belle Epoque Pullman” deluxe carriages just as in 1915, or in panoramic coaches. Visit the picturesque Gruyères village and discover how Gruyere cheese is made at the demonstration cheese dairy. It is at Broc that you will see how chocolate is made, at the Cailler factory where a tour is offered together with a film and a tasting.

Day 5 - Checking out of your hotel, you might have a little free time in Lausanne, the setting of which is extremely picturesque and it is hardly surprising that the International Olympic Committee has been based here since 1914. The town is built on three hills, surrounded by vineyard-covered slopes, with Lake Geneva at its feet. Departing by train around lunchtime, you travelback to Paris where you take a late afternoon Eurostar journey back to London, arriving early evening.
