Sample Itinerary

Day 1 - Portsmouth & the Historic Dockyard is the home of the Royal Navy where you can go aboard HMS Victory, HMS Warrior 1860 and also find out more about the Mary Rose story. Portsmouth Harbour’s leading attraction also includes the National Museum of the Royal Navy, Action Stations and Harbour Tours. This attraction is a great place to experience 800 years of naval history surrounded by working docks and historic buildings.

Day 2 - Carisbrooke Castle (EH) is the historic royal castle on the Isle of Wight. It is remarkably complete with battlements, a keep and is famous as a royal prison to Charles I. The donkeys that live at the castle are a must-see and you can relax in the Princess Beatrice Garden, designed by TV presenter and award-winning garden designer, Chris Beardshaw. Brading Roman Villa is one of the finest Roman sites in the UK. This award winning visitor centre and museum offers a unique insight into Roman life in Britain, from beautifully preserved mosaic floors to an extensive collection of Roman archaeology. It is housed within an award-winning ecological cover building and the Villa site sits within a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Day 3 - A full day guided tour of the Island, during which we will visit the Needles and various other places of interest around the island including the pretty ‘chocolate box’ village of Shanklin. The Calbourne Water Mill is the only working Water Mill on the Isle of Wight and is set in 10 acres of stunning rural landscape. It contains one of the oldest working water mills in the country and dates back to the Domesday Book. Enjoy looking around the Mill, Museums & the Renewable Energy Centre with wind, solar and water power displays.

Day 4 - Osborne House (EH) was Queen Victoria’s palace by the sea. After first visiting Osborne House on the Isle of Wight, England’s longest-reigning monarch wrote: ‘It is impossible to imagine a prettier spot’.. Look out for Victorian opulence, extravagant interiors, and jaw-dropping Indian décor in the Durbar Room. However, Osborne was also built as a family home and as you walk through the Queen’s bedroom, the nursery rooms and even royal bathrooms, you get an intimate glimpse into royal family life. There are acres of grounds and gardens to relax in as well as horse and carriage rides. Godshill and the Secret Gardenis a little treasure which is well hidden behind a high stone wall to keep it special and unique. The beautiful garden is home to 2 churches, 4 pubs, an airfield, a railway, 3 hot air  balloons, an airship, over 2,500 carefully shaped conifers and shrubs…...plus countless little islanders going about their daily lives.

Day 5 - Chichester is compact and intimate, with Roman walls and a medieval heart. There is history on every corner, from the Tudor Market Cross to the Georgian terraces, a stunning backdrop to 21st century life. But Chichester does modern too – Pallant House Gallery's new high-tech, high spec addition to the 18th century townhouse, which was just as cutting edge in its time.
