Sample Itinerary

Day 1 - Arriving on the continent we journey towards the Duchy of Luxembourg, making comfort stop(s) en route. Dinner is included at the hotel this evening.

Day 2 - Vianden Castle was constructed between the 11th and 14th centuries on the foundations of a Roman 'castellum' and a Carolingian refuge. It is one of the largest and most beautiful feudal residences of the romanesque and gothic periods in Europe. Little Switzerland, also known as the Mullerthal,Is a picturesque area of northern Luxembourg and very popular with ramblers. Echternach is a medieval town famous for its imposing Basilica, as well as the world famous “Dancing Procession”. The Basilica houses Saint Willibrord’s white marble sarcophagus, who was a Northumbrian monk who brought Christianity to the region in around 700AD.

Day 3 - Luxembourg City - A guided tour of the city both on foot and by coach will give you a unique picture of the history of this little Grand-Duchy, unfolding a journey through the past to the modern day. Visit Villeroy & Boch Porcelain Manufacturer Factory Outlet. Bourscheid Medieval Castle islocated on an isolated promontory, 150m above the level of the river Sûre and 370m above sea level. Military History Museum (Battle of the Bulge). Participate in a self-guided audio tour of one of the best private collections and memorabilia from the Luxembourg Battle of the Bulge in the winter of 1944 / 1945.

Day 4 - Trier is Germany's oldest town and has an abundance of Roman history and is a fascinating city. The Roemer Express, an electric train, is an excellent way to see the main sights including the Porta Nigra.  The Wine Cellars of St Martin is a perfect way to end a busy day. Discover the excellence of a sparkling wine, naturally elaborated according to an ancestral and traditional method. In the dim light of the underground galleries which are almost 1km long, discover the secret of the high quality of the wines and crémants. A tasting of their wine is included and purchases can be made also.

Day 5 - Belgium, stopping en route at the Distillerie du Biercee, which is unique in Belgium. Discover the secrets of distillation and how 10kg of fresh fruit are transformed into one bottle of eau-de-vie or liqueur. See the Distiller’s room with its collection of ancient stills, tools and old books and see a video presentation as well as sampling one or two of the products in the Grange des Belges (Belgian Barn) which is set in the splendid Ferme de la Cour. A traditional Belgian Farmer’s style lunch is included before returning to the UK.
