Sample Itinerary

Day 1 - You are greeted by our local representative and check in to your hotel.

Day 2 - Abbey of Monte Olivieto Maggiore - View the magnificent 41 frescoes of the Life of St. Benedict. Then head to Pienza. This charming small town, where part of the 'English Patient' was filmed, has a central square where the most important buildings such as the cathedral and the town hall are located.  Visit of Renaissance San Biagio church in Montepulciano.

Day 3 - Perugia & Assisi - Travel into the heart of the Umbrian countryside to Perugia to see the Galleria Nazionale, the centre for Umbrian art where there will be a guided tour of the gallery. Continue to Assisi for an audio-guided tour of the Basilica of St Francis of Assisi and its wonderful frescoes by Giotto, Simone Martini and Lorenzetti. The basilica, which dominates the town, is one of the great Christian shrines and is visited by thousands of pilgrims each year.  

Day 4 - Siena and San Gimignano - Guided tour ofSiena. Relax in the Campo where the Palio horse race takes place, or visit the cathedral.  Travel into the Chianti wine growing region to visit San Gimignano with its cathedral housing the ‘Poor Man’s Bible’ and the 13 defensive Medieval towers, giving it the name the ‘Small Manhattan’. 

Day 5 - Florence, the capital of Renaissance art - Guided tour of the Uffizi Gallery. This isone of the world’s finest art galleries, housing Renaissance art from the 14th to 18th century, and was originally established by the Medici family. It includes the works of Giotto, Masaccio, Paolo Ucello, Sandro Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, Titian and Caravaggio. Ancient Greek and Roman sculptures line the inner corridors of the gallery.  The afternoon is free for you to explore the sights of this most beautiful of cities including the River Arno, the Ponte Vecchio and the magnificent Duomo. Visit sights such as the famous Accademia, the Pitti Palace or Boboli Gardens. Time permitting, during the day we stop at the Piazzale Michelangelo for a beautiful view of Florence.

Day 6 - Pisa - Free time to explore Pisa at your leisure. Although Pisa is known worldwide for its leaning tower (the bell tower of the city's cathedral), the city contains more than 20 other historic churches, several palaces and various bridges across the River Arno.
