It is very popular for bowling and dancing holidays, especially during the winter months. Ideally located, the Athena Beach Hotel is located in a superb location on the beachfront, near to the harbour and close to the town, which has a wide variety of restaurants, bars and shops with a delightfully authentic Cypriot atmosphere. This hotel specialises in bowls and dancing holidays with resident British co-ordinators during the winter months. They also welcome walking, cycling, golf, bridge and cultural groups.
Sample Itinerary
Day 1 – Our base for this tour is Paphos and we begin with an included late lunch in the hotel's Leda Restaurant. You will then have free time to explore the vicinity before re-grouping for dinner at the hotel.
Day 2 – Breakfast followed by a ‘presentation of CBH HOTELS’ followed by a Bowls Presentation including a friendly tournament & a dancing presentation & session followed by lunch. Guided Tour of Paphos which is an ideal introduction during which you will discover the rich history and traditions of Paphos. Visit the Odeon and the famous Roman mosaics of the House of Dionysos and Aion, which depict familiar scenes from mythology. We then pass by St. Pauls Pillar, the ruins of an early Christian Basilica and the Christian catacomb of Solomoni. A visit to the attractive Byzantine church of Ayia Paraskevi at Yeroskipou is included, after which there will be a coffee break and you will learn how ‘Loukoumia’ (Cyprus delights) are made, for which the village is famous. Dinner included at the hotel tonight.
Day 3 – Full day excursion to Curium / Omodhos - This takes us alongthe most beautiful stretch of coastline on the island. Included is a visit to the famous House of Eustolios with its intricate mosaics and wonderful amphitheatre overlooking the sea. Our route will then take us through stunning mountain scenery as we visit the charming village of Omodhos, built around one of the oldest monasteries in Cyprus, the Holy Cross. This is also one of the best wine producing villages where traditional white stone buildings line the narrow cobbled streets. We will visit the old wine press of the village and enjoy a traditional ‘meze’ lunch. On our way back to Paphos, a stop will be made for photos at Aphrodite’s Rock. Dinner tonight is hosted by the hotel management.
Day 4 – Full day excursion to the Troodos Mountains, which rise almost 2,000 metres above sea level allowing an amazing 360° view of the whole island. As you enjoy the panoramic views and pass by tiny villages, our expert guide will explain about this paradise for nature lovers. The first short stop is at the well-known village of Platres. Take a deep breath of healthy mountain air and taste a cup of coffee before we continue through the forested mountains. Our next stop is Kykkos Monastery, the most lavish monastery of Cyprus where you will be impressed by its wealth of history and treasures. This is a landmark site and a must see visitor attraction in this region. Close to Kykkos Monastery is the Tomb of Makarios who served as a monk at Kykkos Monastery and was the first President of Cyprus. Lunch and dinner are included today.
Day 5 – This morning is at your leisure to enjoy your surroundings with your hotel stay officially terminating after breaskfast.
