Day 1 – Friday – Christmas Eve - Departing your allocated pick-up point, we travel south to 1066 Country and the charming market town of Battle which grew up around the Abbey and which takes its name from the famous battle between England’s would be rulers William Duke of Normandy and the Saxon King Harold. On 14th October 1066, this area witnessed the most celebrated confrontation to take place on English soil – the Battle of Hastings, an event so significant it completely changed the course of English history Battle. Lunch can be purchased before continuing on to Eastbourne and the hotel where a welcome cup of tea and mince pie awaits. Having freshened up, relax into the festive mood with pre-dinner drinks (local charge) in the lounge bar before dinner. Following your evening meal, you may choose to take part in the ‘Table Quiz’ with a chance to win a bottle of wine with Boxing Day Dinner. Eyes down for bingo followed by music and dancing.

Day 2 Saturday – Christmas Day
Following your full English breakfast, today’s excursion is to Rye, which is perched on a hill overlooking the River Rother and Romney Marsh. This ancient town is the sort of place you thought existed only in your imagination. With enchanting, cobbled streets, medieval church and beautifully preserved historic houses from medieval, Tudor and Georgian times, Rye is almost suspended in time and has a uniquely unhurried atmosphere. We will return to the hotel via the seaside town of Hastings which in the 19th-century was a popular seaside resort, as the railway allowed tourists and visitors to reach the town. Today, Hastings is a fishing port with the UK's largest beach-based fishing fleet. Once back at the hotel, there will be ‘fun and games’ from mid-afternoon. This evening’s ‘Candlelit Gala Christmas Dinner’ is complete with crackers, trimmings and a glass of wine. After dinner there will be another chance to win at bingo followed by more music and dancing and tonight’s ‘Fancy Dress Competition’, which has numerous prizes for the most original costume – Anything goes!

Five miles of promenade lead you past the stunning Carpet Gardens, the famous 1930’s bandstand, historic Napoleonic Towers and the smartly restored Victorian Pier. You may choose to join our excursion to Brighton, which is a rich mix of Regency heritage, specialist shopping, arts & year- round events. It has even got its own palace, the exotic Royal Pavilion which was the seaside palace of the Prince Regent (George IV).
The Pavilion houses furniture and works of art including original pieces lent by HM The Queen and a magnificent display of Regency silver-gilt – local cost applies). Enjoy Brighton's unique shopping experience as you wander through the 17th century Brighton Lanes. Brighton's North Laine has a laid-back bohemian charm and over 300 unique, individual and quirky shops. Here, the medieval streets, old English churches and tiny twittens (a Sussex word for alleyway), allow visitors a glimpse into the true essence of bygone Lewes. Although surrounded by chalk cliffs, the townscape is dominated by the remains of a Norman castle. It is also home to the handsome townhouse of Anne of Cleves, the 4th wife of King Henry Vlll – entrance charges not included.
