Familiarisation trips always include a busy itinerary and are not designed as a holiday specifically but they are great fun and are an opportunity to meet like-minded Organisers from around the UK. Friday 8th -  ZAGREB
Arriving in Zagreb you will be transferred to the city centre where we begin with a guided walking tour of this historic and fascinating old town before checking in at the hotel. Dinner is included at a local restaurant before retiring for the night.

Saturday 9th - ZAGREB - BLED
Breakfast at the hotel followed by a brief presentation by the Croatian Tourism Board before departing by coach for Slovenia, where lunch is included in the picturesque town of Bled hidden deep in the Julian Alps and is set amongst stunning scenery, from snow-clad mountains to emerald waters and forested cliffs. This afternoon you will takle a cruise on Lake Bled by Pletna, a wooden flat-bottom boat designed along the lines of the Venetian gondola, but with its own features. During this cruise, you will see the medieval island situated in the centre of the lake. Next we visit nearby Radovljica, famous for its chocolate and honey, where the heart and soul of the town is Linhart Square. Here you will see a variety of authentically preserved architecture from the 16th, 17th, and 18th centuries. A walking tour of the old town will show you a mighty Baroque mansion and other interesting medieval buildings including the Šivec House, ideal for art lovers as it hosts a gallery and a museum. At Magušar's house there is a pottery workshop and an exhibition of traditional pottery from the Gorenjska region. Overnight and dinner included in Bled tonight.

Breakfast at the hotel before departing for Lake Bohinj, the ‘Gateway to the Triglav National Park’ is the place to relax and escape the hectic pace of modern life. This brooding, eerily calm and silent body of water is a nature lover’s paradise and is usually the start for either short or long hikes into the Julian Alps. Many set out from here to climb Slovenia's largest and most famous peak, Mount Triglav. Here you will enjoy a leisurely boat cruise before continuing on to the Piran area, where lunch is included at a local homestead with a wine tasting made from the local Istrian vines. This afternoon you will be escorted on a walking tour of Piran, where the old port town with its narrow streets and closely built houses, is protected as a cultural and historical monument. This coastal town which developed under the influence of Venice is considered to be one of the most authentic and most photogenic towns on the Adriatic coast. Standing tall on the hill overlooking the town is the Church of St. George from where you can see Slovenia, Croatia and Italy at the same time. A visit will also be made to the famous Salt Pans, which today are landscape parks. Transferring to nearby Portorož a hotel dinner is included.

Breakfast at hotel before departing for Postojna which has the most captivating cave in the world and the largest show cave in Europe! During a 90 minute guided tour of this 24km long cave system, you will feel the magic of the underground world and experience a one-of-a-kind ride on the Cave's underground train. You will learn about the most important karst features, see the largest 5m stalagmite known as the Brilliant and also visit the oldest underground Post Office in the World. Lunch is included before continuing on to the famous Lipica Stud Farm, a cultural landmark of national importance and is the birthplace and 'cradle' of the Lipizzaner horses. Continuing on to Ljubljana our overnight stop, this evening you will attend an award-winning 'traditional Slovenian Folkore Show' with music and dinner before returning to the hotel.

Breakfast at the hotel before this morning's guided tour of Ljubljana. This charming capital city is also one of Europe's greenest and was awarded the coveted 'Green Capital of Europe' title in 2016. The city centre is predominantly pedestrianised and the Old Town is a blend of Baroque, Renaissance, and Art Nouveau buildings watched over by a medieval castle. There will be a little free time when lunch can be purchased before departure.

Due to the nature of this tour and the amount of walking involved, this promotion is unfortunately unsuitable for those with walking difficulties.
