Sailing schedule - Dutch cruise
Day 1 – Departing from your local area, we continue to the coast for your short channel crossing to Calais. On arrival in France we continue north to Amsterdam where you will embark the Prinses Christina. Dinner is included on board this evening.
Day 2 –Today we cruise north to Enkhuizen during which you will take lunch on board before arriving early afternoon in this picturesque town on the shores of the Ijsselmeer. The afternoon will be at our leisure to explore this traditional town or alternatively, you might choose to visit the famous Zuiderzee Museum. This ‘open-air’ museum is home to more than 130 authentic houses, shops and workshops and depicts the history and culture of this unique region. Dinner is included on board this evening whilst the ship moors in Enkhuizen.
Day 3 – Departing Enkhuizen at 9am we cruise to Hoorn where we are scheduled to arrive around 11am. Hoorn is an historic town which during the ‘Golden Age’ was one of the six bases of the Dutch East India Company and was a prosperous and powerful trading town. This prosperity can still be seen in the historical town centre with its atmosphere of bygone eras and many listed buildings. You will have some free time to discover the town before your lunch on board ship, after which you will have the opportunity of visiting Volendam. This old fishing village is famous for its splendid harbour, fishing trade, authentic Dutch character and traditional clothing. You will have free time here before being transferred back to the ship in time to freshen up for your evening meal. The ship is moored in Hoorn this evening.
Day 4 – The boat departs Hoorn at 9am arriving in Amsterdam at 1pm where following lunch, the afternoon is at your leisure. Take the opportunity of walking along the Damrak, visiting Museumplein which is home to the Rijks Museum or relax alongside the Singel canal which is home to an amazingly colourful Flower Market. Amsterdam is a fascinating city where peaceful canals are criss-crossed by hundreds of bridges and world famous museums vie for your attention. A relaxing way of seeing the city close-up is with a 1 hour inner city canal cruise which is offered as a pre-bookable optional excursion. Returning to the Prinses Christina, your evening meal is included on board. The ship is moored in Amsterdam overnight.
Day 5 – After breakfast on board ship this morning, it is sadly time to disembark but a ‘highlight’ awaits, as we spend this morning at the stunning Keukenhof Gardens, entrance included. Here you can admire the exuberantly coloured flowers and delightful coloured landscaped gardens. This spectacular open-air flower exhibition serves as a permanent showcase for the bulb and flower industry, offering a wide range of attractions guaranteed to excite and delight - a treat for gardeners and non-gardeners alike! But Keukenhof offers more than just flowers and throughout the park you'll find exhibitions by Dutch artists, a variety of restaurants and sunny terraces, just perfect for relaxing during the course of the afternoon. Lunch can be purchased here before departing early afternoon for the onward journey to Calais, where we will take an early evening crossing back to the UK and your original departure points.
